Cape Coral City Council: Fees, tax, and high water rates?

April 13, 2013
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

To the editor:

We have a city with no leadership, no budget, etc. The only thing they are good at are collecting fees and tax money, which they waste.

Look at salary of the police and fire brass $70,000 to $100,000 plus benefits and they think that big 2 percent pay cut was a big deal? And that goes for the rest of the staff at City Hall, that make the big bucks. This city has a new city hall and they were renting office space on Pine Island Road, for the Utilities Dept. that went on for years . Is this more of Mc Grail's "sustainable?"

If they need to lay off staff, do it, we the people are fed up with paying all the time.

We have one of highest water rates in the state. They took storm water money and under state law the money was to be returned to rate payers not spent on vacant land ; more waste.Did anyone from the city stop this move, and contact the Attorney General Office about this matter,? Don't think so.

They found money for new police cars; they can't fix anything in this city.We have have a new police station that is half empty at a $50 million price tag.

Is this what Mc Grail calls "sustainable" - more waste of tax dollars? And they think they are doing a great job. The city manager, goes along with the city council on all matters, why pay for a city manager he is just a paper pusher for them?

This is a good example of what can happen when people do not vote and the only people that show up on election day are employees and family and unions. The end result more taxes and fees.

We need to stop this council and the waste of tax money - this is only thing this city has been doing for the past ten years.

This city council should get an award for the worst-run city in the state of Florida.
