A traffic accident last week in which a Cape Coral motorist apparently struck and killed a bicyclist remained under investigation Thursday.
On April, 1 Christopher Weems, 53, of Punta Gorda, was riding a bicycle northbound on U.S. 41 when he came to the intersection at Main Street. He tried to turn left onto Main and was struck by a southbound Ford vehicle.
Pamela Ann Corlieto, 48, of the Cape, was driving the Ford.
The vehicle hit the right side of the bicycle, and Weems was ejected.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
Corlieto sustained minor injuries in the accident and was transported to Charlotte Regional Medical Center, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Hospital officials reported that she was treated and later released.
The FHP investigation remains ongoing.
"Still under investigation pending toxicology results," spokesman Lt. Greg Bueno said Thursday. "Sometimes that takes up to a month or two."
It is unknown if Weems was under the influence at the time of the crash.
