John Henry Gary Albury, 73, of Harbour Island, Bahamas, and Cape Coral, passed peacefully from this world Friday, March 29, 2013.
He was born Leonard Parks Albury and Edna Mae Albury, now deceased, on Sept. 2, 1939, in Harbour Island, Bahamas.
He graduated from the Miami Military Academy as a colonel in 1956. He married Theodora (Teddy) Hall in 1959, and they lived together in Nassau, Bahamas, until 1973 before moving to Cape Coral to raise the children. He returned to his beloved home of Harbour Island for retirement in 2001.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Teddy; three beautiful daughters, Hope Albury and fianc Mike Fischer, Valerie Albury and fianc Peter Neely and Dawn Walkine; four wonderful grandchildren, Tara, Kristen and husband Ian Scarsellato, Andre' and Jasmine; his brother, Lester Albury, and sister, Marylou Saunders; great uncle and aunt, Sidney and Norma Albury; many nieces and nephews and extended family members for whom he cared deeply; and his ever faithful pet, Georgie.
In his early career, he served as a retail merchant in Fort Myers and Cape Coral before entering the field of real estate property management. He was a Master Mason of the Royal Victoria Lodge #443 in Nassau, Bahamas, and also gave freely of himself to the Cape Coral community. He had a great passion for the game of golf and was also a gifted chef, specializing in Caribbean cuisine that he enjoyed catching and harvesting with friends and family. He will be missed by all who knew him as a kind and warm family man with a great sense of humor and a strong love for life.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Hope Hospice charities so that others may also pass with dignity and peace.
A memorial service will be held in May 2013 at the Wesley Methodist Church in Harbour Island, Bahamas, with a scattering of his ashes at his place of birth and of final rest.
