Walter "Rosey" Leo Rosen-kranz, 83, a Cape Coral resident since 1997, formerly of Bellville, Ill., passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013, in Cape Coral, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Feb. 8, 1930, in East St. Louis, Ill., to Walter and Lucille, now deceased.
He was of the Protestant faith. He was a U.S. Marine Corps Korean War Purple Heart veteran. He retired from the railroad after 49 years of service in Illinois. After relocating to Cape Coral, he worked at Publix for 10 years and also enjoyed working three years as an umpire for the city of Cape Coral.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Janet "Jan" Rosenkranz of Cape Coral; nine children, Brian Rosenkranz of Cape Coral, Toby (Jennifer) Rosenkranz, also of Cape Coral, Deann (Robert) Craig of Bellville, Ill., Douglas (Kimberly) Crouch of Tennessee, Duane (Aimee) Crouch of North Carolina, Darin Crouch and his fianc Valerie Panozzo of Chicago, as well as Walter Rosenkranz Jr., Trish Rosenkranz and Mark Rosenkranz; in addition to 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Walter, the last of his siblings, was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 10, at the Hope Hospice Chapel, 2430 Diplomat Parkway, Cape Coral, FL 33909.
