Cape teams win 3 of 4

In all, Tuesday was a good night for Cape baseball teams. Ida Baker and Mariner notched victories on the road and Cape High triumphed at The Nest. Island Coast was the lone loser on the road at Estero.

Tanner Renegar allowed one run and struck out four over four innings to remain unbeaten on the mound as Baker spanked Lehigh 13-2 in five innings.

Tyler Holt and Caleb Farmer provided all the offense the Bulldogs would need with two hits, including a double, apiece. Holt drove in four runs and Farmer drove in three.

The Bulldogs (14-4), winners of six of their last seven games, host East Lee County on Thursday.

Mariner 8, Lemon Bay 1: Mariner sprayed a dozen base hits and scored multiple runs in three separate innings to record a victory Tuesday night at Lemon Bay.

Enrique Morales led the Tritons with three hits and one RBI. Jacob Martin and Jason Pickett contributed two hits and two RBI apiece while Joey Morales also had two base hits, including a double.

Martin (1-2) picked up his first win on the mound by allowing just two hits over five scoreless innings with seven strikeouts.

The Tritons (9-10) play at Riverdale Thursday.

Cape Coral 3, Charlotte 1: Cape Coral struck for three runs in the first inning and held on to defeat Charlotte Tuesday night.

Cody Carroll drove in the first run with a single. With the bases loaded, Kyle Arjona forced in a run by drawing a walk. David Schulz finished off the early rally by plating a run by grounding into a double play.

The Seahawks (12-7) visit Riverdale Wednesday.

Estero 2, Island Coast 1: Junior left-hander Zeke Piatrzyk pitched a complete-game four-hitter and connected for the game-winning solo home run in the sixth inning to lead Estero to victory Tuesday over Island Coast.

Piatrzyk struck out nine batters to get the best of the Gators' F.T. Corso, who tossed 5 2/3 innings with five strikeouts.

Kameron Gellinger had three hits for the Gators while Corso delivered an RBI single in the fourth inning.

The Gators (13-6) host Dunbar Wednesday.

Softball

Mariner 4, Fort Myers 1: Alyssa Langdale contributed at the plate and on the mound toward Mariner's victory Tuesday at Fort Myers.

Langdale drove in all four runs for the Tritons, two on a first-inning home run and the others coming on a two-run single in the fifth. She struck out five to pick up her 10th win on the mound.

The Tritons (11-8) host Estero Wednesday.

Barron Collier 3, North Fort Myers 2: Barron Collier scored two unearned runs, including the game-winner in the bottom of the seventh inning Tuesday night to hand North Fort Myers a defeat.

Sarah Waitekus had two hits to lead the Red Knights and drove in a run in the first inning. Katie Grubb contributed a pair of singles.

The Knights (12-8) play at Naples Thursday.
