Natalie Elizabeth Maddalena, 95, of Cape Coral and New York, passed away March 19, 2013.
She was born on Sept. 9, 1917, in the Bronx, N.Y., to Maria and Rosario Mirenda. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank, who was killed in the Black Forest of Germany Nov. 22. 1944.
She went on to raise their two children, Frank (Robin) and Maria. She is mourned and lovingly remembered by them and her grandchildren, Nicole and Frank Anthony Maddalena, and her great-grandsons, Michael Nicosia and Nicholas Maddalena, as well as many other family members and friends both in Cape Coral and New York.
Throughout her life, Mrs. Maddalena was very active in veterans, civic and community issues in New York as well as at Holy Name of Jesus parish in Valhalla, N.Y. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Altar Society at Holy Name, the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post#1574, Gold Star Wives of America and the Italian-American Club of Westchester Community College and several other organizations.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in her name to one of the following charities: Hope Hospice, Fort Myers, Florida; Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, Valhalla, N.Y.; Franciscan Sisters of the Atonement, Graymoor, N.Y.; or American Legion Post#1574, Valhalla, N.Y.
