Gulf Coast 7, Cape Coral 1: Kyle Arjona accounted for Cape Coral's only run with an RBI single in the third inning of Friday's loss to Gulf Coast.

The loss comes on the heels of Thursday's 12-0 rout of Lely in which Arjona drove in four runs with three hits, including a double, with help from Scott Dudas and David Schulz with two hits apiece. JV callup Shane McLain struck out eight in his first varsity game to earn the win on the mound.

The Gators (11-5) play at Lemon Bay on Tuesday.

Boys Soccer

College singing: Quade Marinell, the youngest of four siblings, has signed a national letter-of-intent to attend Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn., in the fall on a soccer scholarship.

Quade's brothers, Taylor and Chase, and sister Morgan all played athletics at Bishop Verot before him.

Several of his coaches spoke at the signing celebration March 24 at Il Primo Pizza at Summerlin and Cypress Lake Drive with friends, family and classmates.
