On the back of right-hander Hunter Brothers, Lipscomb leveled the season series Friday with a 5-2 win over the No. 26 FGCU baseball team at Swanson Stadium.
The Eagles drop to 17-6 on the year and 3-2 in A-Sun play while the Bisons move to 10-18 and 2-3 in conference.
This marks the fifth time this season FGCU has been held to six hits and the Eagles have lost three of those five games.
The Bisons got to junior left-hander Brandon Bixler early, pushing across one run in the first to take an early lead. Taylor Stewart got on with a single to left field.
Aaron Sandoval followed with a walk and Zach Lowery knocked in Stewart from second with a RBI single through the left side.
The Eagles manufactured runs in the bottom half of the third when freshman Tyler Selesky walked with one out to begin the inning. Senior Mike Reeves then doubled down the right field line and Selesky was held up at third. A wild pitch by Brothers brought in Selesky to tie the game and Reeves moved to third on the play. With one out, junior Sean Dwyer hit a sacrifice-fly to straightaway center field to plate Reeves for a 2-1 lead.
With two runners on, Sandoval put down a safety squeeze toward first, but Zack Tillery's throw home was too late and the game was tied 2-2.
Tyson Ashcraft plated both runners left aboard with a single up the middle to make it 5-2.
The Eagles face Lipscomb at 10 a.m. Saturday in the finale of the three-game series at Swanson Stadium.
