To the editor:
Sometimes when watching the 6 p.m. news, you see/hear things that are just baffling. Tuesday's broadcast from a local station, had me baffled. I guess maybe it was so baffling because I don't understand the challenges involved in taking a chartered bus and having a cooler for the passengers that has adult beverages in it.
The driver of the chartered vehicle wasn't drinking the beverages. Did anyone else partake? I do not know, but as long as they were over 21, why would this be a problem?
It was apparently a major issue with Chris Chulakes-Leetz. He is finishing his first term come November. I was shocked at the sound byte he provided. .He apologized on camera to Councilwoman Erbrick. She was on the charter bus. He apologized to her for "Her not being able to go 8 hours without an alcoholic beverage". He said as well he believes in making transportation safer.
I agree, but if he so concerned about being around adult beverages in transit, then he better drive long distances, and not take an airplane. They serve adult, grown-up drinks there. There were other professionals on the bus, are they to be denied a grown up beverage on a private charter just because a total of three Cape Coral Council members were in transit as well? I just don't see his logic.
In fact, I am quite concerned that he would be so defamatory and disrespectful to a colleague. I have been on the receiving end of his nasty barbs, which is bad enough to send to a constituent, yet watching him on the news, it confirmed what I knew. I am voting for Richard Leon candidate for District 4 come this fall. To the three people he insulted on that news broadcast, please just consider the source.
