The Florida Everblades lost forward Alex Hutchings Wednesday to the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League so the team went out and agreed to terms Thursday with forward Rocco Carzo and defenseman Mike Cornell to fill roster spots.

Carzo, 22, joins the Blades after posting a career-best 19 points (9g, 10a) in 34 games during his senior season at University of Massachusetts-Amherst. The 6-foot-1, 203-pound forward totaled 48 points over his four-year collegiate career with the Minutemen. He also played two seasons with the USHL's Des Moines Buccaneers totaling 51 points.

Cornell, 25, heads to Florida after setting a career-best 10 points (3g, 7a) this season at the University of Maine. The 6-0, 195-pound blue-liner registered 29 points (5g, 24a) over his four seasons with the Black Bears. He accumulated 27 points (6g, 21a) in 45 appearances with the Manchester Jr. Monarchs (EJHL) during the 2008-09 season.

Hutchings, 22, posted four points (2g, 2a) in 12 games with the Crunch already this season. In 40 games for the Everblades, Hutchings totaled 34 points (14g, 20a). He had his second career hat trick on November 9.

The Ontario native was selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the fourth round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

The Everblades are hosting the Cincinnati Cyclones for two games this weekend at Germain Arena. The teams drop the puck at 7 p.m. Saturday to finish the two-game visit.
