The Cape Coral Seahawks are stuck on a downward slide. After starting the softball season 4-0, the Seahawks have dropped four straight after Monday's 7-4 loss to Bishop Verot.
"Yes, we definitely are on a slide," said Seahawks coach Amy Petruska.
Petruska even tried changing starting pitchers against Veror, but Carly Vilardi was unable to stop the losing streak.
Verot opened a 4-0 lead before the Seahawks closed the gap with a three-run rally in the fourth inning.
Emily McLain led the Seahawks with three hits, half their total on the night. After the Vikings tacked on three runs in the seventh inning to open a 7-3 lead, all the Seahawks could muster was a solo home run by Kerry McLaughlin in the seventh inning.
The Seahawks (4-4) look to end the losing streak Tuesday night at Mariner.
