Fort Myers went on a 20-11 scoring run in the third quarter to open a lead from which the Mariner Tritons could not recover Tuesday night. The Green Wave held on for a 61-52 victory at Mariner.

"We were tied at halftime," said Tritons coach James Harris. "Then they went on that run and we couldn't get closer than six points from there."

Mark Matthews led the Green Wave charge with a team-high 20 points, backed by James Brunson with 14 and Billy Graddy with 13.

Rodney Hunter led the Tritons with a game-high 24 points, but only got double-figure help from Rick Moore with 14 points. Both led the team in rebounding with five each.

"We've played three playoff teams in a row," said Harris. "That can only make you better."

The Tritons (14-10) host Estero Thursday night.

East Lee County 58, Island Coast 45: A lack of three-point shooting success kept Island Coast from closing the deficit and positioning itself for a win Tuesday night in a loss to East Lee County.

The Jaguars were content to sit in their zone defense because the Gators connected on just 2-of-33 from three-point range on the night.

"We didn't do a good job of working for closer shots," said Gators coach Greg Coleman. "When the shots don't fall it causes frustration even though we were playing good defense."

Kaleb Darrett topped the Gators in scoring with 15 points while Angel Inchausti contributed 12 points. Sonel Mathurin led in rebounding with 12 as Morgan Foreman and Jordan Lugo grabbed 10 apiece.

The Gators (13-11) host North Fort Myers Friday night in the regular season finale.
