To the editor:
I read the letter from Andrew Seidel chiding Dick Kalfus and advising our city council to ignore Dick's suggestions. Mr. Seidel claims that we live in a secular nation. Nothing could be further from the truth. Our founding fathers were not secular nor are the principles upon which this nation was created. We are a Judeo-Christian nation that allows for the practice of other religions.
The morality of our nation is founded in Judeo-Christian principles. The fact so many immortal things occur in our society suggests we have not been taught these principles or they have not been reinforced by our parents.
As is frequently the case, people like Mr. Seidel, practice the art of revisionist history. They hope nobody will challenge their ideas and if repeated often enough, their ideas will gain acceptance as being true. Mr. Seidel is in a clear minority when it comes to religion. If the majority of people want to pray at an activity, civic meeting or other public forum so be it.
