The "Helping Kids with Cancer" Radiothon on Cat Country 107.1 FM, which is being broadcast live from Miromar Outlets in Estero, is under way. The fund-raiser began at 6 a.m. and continues until 6 p.m.
Now in its 11th year, the 12-hour live Radiothon on Cat Country 107.1 FM showcases Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida's Cancer Program and the positive impact this program has on the lives of children and families throughout our five-county region.
Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida oncology and hematology patients, their parents and caregivers will take over the airwaves to share personal stories of hope and healing.
Golisano Children's Hospital Cancer Program is supported by the Lee Memorial Health System Foundation through Barbara's Friends The Golisano Children's Hospital Cancer Fund. Barbara's Friends is an endowed fund that supports the pediatric oncology and hematology programs and family-centered services not reimbursed by public or private health insurance.
Money raised from the Radiothon stays right here in Southwest Florida and is used to provide the children's cancer program with everything needed including building America's newest children's hospital to give local kids a fighting chance to win their battles against cancer and blood disorders.
Funds raised to support the "Helping Kids with Cancer" Radiothon will be matched dollar-for-dollar by B. Thomas Golisano as part of his Community Challenge Grant.
