Those interested in attending may join in the classes at any session. There is a team of screened volunteers who provide free child care for ages 4 to 10. Dr. Lucas teaches the seminar as a community service event sponsored by Get a Life Foundation (a FL non-profit), Amazing Facts Bible Ministry, the Adventist Church, and local Christian volunteers. The seminar continues each Friday and Saturday evening for 8 weekends with each session being a different topic of study within the book of Revelation.
Lucas, the pastor of the Adventist Church in Cape Coral, has his PhD in New Testament Studies and has studied the Bible scriptures in the original languages. He has presented seminars like this one in several locations around the United States. He presents the message of Revelation as one of hope and restoration with an emphasis on when Jesus will make all things better for the world.
According to Lucas, "The book of Revelation certainly has its more scary and serious parts. And it does speak of the eventual end of the world and the destruction of evil. But it is first and foremost an exhortation to believe in the saving power of Jesus. It is like a dramatic play with several scenes revealing the background of evil at work through the ages, but culminating in a time of escalating trouble just before the return of Jesus and the re-creation of the earth to its Eden beauty. Understanding Revelation helps us to be prepared for the end of time."
