Cape Coral and North Fort Myers advanced to the semifinals of the girls' District 3A-11 Soccer Tournament Monday night at Mariner. All three first-round matches Monday were shutouts.

Cape defeated Lemon Bay 2-0 and will face top-seeded Mariner at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. North blasted Cypress Lake 8-0 while South Fort Myers erased Island Coast 5-0. North and South face off at 5:30 Wednesday in the other semifinal match.

Melinda Lukas made North's victory extra special by recording her 100th career goal with her second of three goals against Cypress. Lukas now holds the school record for career goals with 101.

Darian Leschewski broke free to score four goals and Taylor Pascal had the Red Knights' other goal. Goalkeeper Amy Pavey was credited with two saves in preserving the shutout, the 11th shutout win this season by the Knights (15-3-1).

"We have the talent and the ability to win this district," said Knights coach Donna Agostinelli. "We just have to go out and do it. Our focus right now, though, is on Wednesday, one game at a time. We want to go out as strong as we can."

The Knights scored early and often at Mariner's Tony McKenna Field. They owned a 7-0 lead at halftime.

"After it was 6-0 I played a lot of our subs," said Agostinelli. "We're all warmed up and excited for Wednesday's game."

The District 4A-12 Tournament semifinals are set for Tuesday. Though hosted by Gulf Coast, each tournament game is being played at the higher seeded team's field. That means No. 3 seed Gulf Coast travels across town to face No. 2 seed Barron Collier while No. 1 seed Ida Baker hosts No. 4 Fort Myers which blanked Palmetto Ridge 7-0 in Monday's first round action.

The 4A-12 championship game is set for Thursday night while the 3A-11 title game will be played Friday night.
