Deborah Marie Ackert Scherer, 51, a Cape Coral resident, formerly of Red Hook, N.Y., passed away Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, after more than a year-long battle with cancer. She was born Feb. 20, 1961, in Cold Spring, N.Y., to John and Lucille Scherer, now deceased.
Deborah, of the Christian faith, was the widow of David M. Ackert. She graduated from Peekskill, N.Y., high school in 1980, and later graduated from Simmons Secretarial School in White Plains, NY.
She is survived by her loving brother, John P. Scherer of Cape Coral; two aunts, Beverly (Ralph) Tarantino of Cape Coral and Barbara Scherer (James) Schmitt of San Rafael, Calif., as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her best friend, Olive Conklin of Peekskill, N.Y.
