NFM girls lose second straight

North Fort Myers lost its second straight girls' soccer game Monday night, a 7-1 beating at Riverdale.

The Red Knights were riding a perfect 11-0 season before dropping their last two, the first coming at Mariner on Friday.

The Knights (11-2, 4-1 district) were engaged in a tight game through halftime, after which the Raiders opened the floodgates with six goals to seize a 7-0 advantage.

Miranda Shirk, with an assist from Miranda Lukas, got the Knights on the board with a late score. Goalkeeper Amy Pavy made 19 saves on the night.

North looks for some healing Tuesday night at Island Coast.

Girls Basketball

Ida Baker 70, Oasis 43: Jessie Placher and Hannah Del Negro combined for 27 points in the second and third periods Monday night to spark Ida Baker to victory at Oasis.

Placher finished with a game-high 28 points and Del Negro had 20.Savannah Ross added 12 points and Brittney Benvie pulled down 12 rebounds.

Samantha Wood and Jordan Westendorf led the Sharks with 14 and 12 points, respectively. Westendorf had a double-double with 11 rebounds.

The Sharks (5-7) play at Canterbury on Tuesday while the Bulldogs (8-3) host Port Charlotte Wednesday night.
