Richard "Dick" Donald Baum, 80, of Cape Coral, formally of Massachusetts, passed away Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at Gulf Coast Village. He was born May 24, 1932, in Rockland, Maine. Following high school he served three years honorably in the U.S. Army. After serving his country he enrolled at the University of Maine where he earned his B.S. in economics. Following graduation he worked for a Boston insurance company in the claims department. He later joined Holyoke Mutual Insurance of Salem, Mass., where he later became a vice president. During his 25 years there he served on several claims committees in New England and nationally. He retired to Florida in 1993 where he enjoyed bowling, pool and dinner dances at several organizations he belonged to.

He is survived by his wife, Sally; daughters, Mary Baum of Massachusetts and Amy (Jeff) Robinson of New Hampshire; and two grandchildren, Margaret and Jack.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 1, at Fuller Metz Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Assoc. Chapter of Massachusetts & New Hampshire, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA, 02470.
