Mariner wins opener in MLK Shootout

Rick Moore and Rodney Hunter led the Mariner Tritons to a 50-42 victory Friday over Fleming Island in the first of two rounds of play in the MLK Shootout in Jacksonville.

Moore hit four three-point baskets to on his way to a game-high 19 points while Hunter converted three from long range to finish with 18 points.

"We played really well especially in the second quarter when we stretched out lead," said Tritons coach James Harris. "We just have to get better at finishing basketball games."

The Tritons (2-0) play Bishop Kenney at 2 p.m. Saturday in the second round of the shootout before returning home.
