Unbeaten Seahawks post 4th straight shutout win

Eli Vega and Gianni Cognatta connected for two goals to lead the Cape Coral Seahawks to a fifth shutout victory of the season 8-0 Thursday night over Island Coast.

The Seahawks, who have allowed just one goal to be scored against them this season, spread the wealth in scoring with Ryan Hoegler, Camillo Avendano, Juan Cano and Jonathan Jimenez each adding one goal apiece. Goalkeeper Austin Lachmann made five saves to preserve the Seahawks' fifth shutout win of the season. Oscar Camacho had a pair of assists.

The Seahawks (5-0, 2-0 district) play at five-time state champion St. Thomas Aquinas Saturday.

Barron Collier 3, Ida Baker 0: Alex Howard and Marlon Herrera played well although Ida Bakerlost at Barron Collier Thursday night.

"We had our chances, but I was not pleased," said Bulldogs coach Scott Wills. "They made some great saves, but we applied a lot of pressure. We played well together."

The Bulldogs (1-2-1, 0-1-1 district) play at Dunbar Monday.

Girls Soccer

Oasis 5, Seacrest 0: Madison Jewett and Brittany Skinner scored two goals apiece to lead Oasis to a shutout victory Thursday night over Seacrest.

Sam Gonzalez added the fifth goal while Angela Giammarusto contributed three assists to the cause. Goalkeeper Kayls Luchan and Emma Nelson made four and two saves, respectively.

The Sharks (1-1-1) play at Canterbury Monday night.

Ida Baker 3, Barron Collier 0: The Ida Baker Bulldogs posted their second District 4A-12 win this week with a shutout victory Thursday over nemesis Barron Collier.

Alexsys Vargas, Shannon Pearl and Frannyh Farella scores one goal apiece for the Bulldogs and goalkeeper Angela Christiano made four saves to preserve the win.

"It was a pretty big win," said Bulldogs coach Dave Trepkowski. "The physical play was there, but we are used to it. They are a young team, but very good."

The Bulldogs (8-0, 2-0 district) play Monday at Dunbar.

North Fort Myers 4, South Fort Myers 0: Melinda Lukas tallied three goals to lead North Fort Myers to its sixth shutout victory Thursday night in six games this season.

Darian Leschewski scored the other goal for the Knights (6-0, 2-0 district), who play at Lehigh Monday.
