Baker trips up Mariner 2-1

Ida Baker scored two first-half goals Tuesday night and held off city rival Mariner 2-1 at Bulldogs Stadium.

Winston Marin and Oscar Trujillo knocked in goals for the Bulldogs with Andrew Faulk and Marin recording assists. Goalkeeper Trey Cristin recorded his first victory.

"Trey played great in goal," said Bulldogs coach Scott Wills. "He made plenty of saves."

Patrick Kibler scored the Tritons' goal in the second half on an assist from Lucas Orellana.

"We played a better second half than the first," said Tritons coach Martin Cardenas.

The Tritons (1-1) play again Thursday night at Riverdale. The Bulldogs (1-0) host Cape Coral Thursday night.

Girls Soccer

Ida Baker 5, Mariner 0: Ida Baker blanked city rival Mariner Tuesday night as five different girls scored goals at Tony McKenna Field.

Goals were scored by Monique Elliott, Shannon Pearl, Gabby Morales, Amber Hutchinson and Franny Farella. Angela Christiano made seven saves in goal for the Bulldogs (3-0), who play Thursday night at Cape Coral.

The Tritons (0-2-1) go looking for their first win of the season Thursday night at home against Riverdale.

North Fort Myers 8, Dunbar 0: Melinda Lukas' hat trick led North Fort Myers to its third victory of the season Tuesday night.

Five other Red Knights players added one goal apiece - Megan Richards, Casey Gentile, Miranda Lukas, Miranda Shirk and Madison Lampkins.

The Knights (3-0) host Island Coast Thursday night.
