Larry Earl Kirkman, 64, of Cape Coral, formerly of Whiteland, Ind., passed away Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, in Bay Pines, Fla. He was born March 31, 1948, in Indianapolis, to Clarence Kirkman and Flora Jane Williams, now deceased.
He was a United States Marines Vietnam War veteran. He served two tours in Vietnam where he was awarded the Purple Heart among many other medals. He was previously employed by Indiana Desco/F.E. Gates Company and was also the former owner and operator of Kirk's Auto Sales in Whiteland, Ind.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 34 years, Rita Ann Kirkman of Cape Coral; three children, Lisa V. (Michael) Platfoot of Franklin, Ind., Natalie F. Welch of Whiteland, Ind., and Russell W. (Dianne) Kirkman, also of Greenwood; a sister, Judi (Gil) Bautista of Naples, Fla.; three brothers, Clarence L. (Rosetta) Kirkman of Indianapolis, Frank (Theresa) Kirkman of Lebanon, Ind., and Morris (Becky) Ridenour of New Palestine, Ind.; as well as six loving grandchildren, Brandi Kirkman, Bryce Platfoot, Charlie Welch, Sadie Welch, Austin Kirkman and Thomas Kirkman.

In Florida, he will be laid to rest in Naples with full military honors. In Indiana, memorial services will be held at 5 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 11, at the Vineyard Community Church, 512 South Madison Ave., Greenwood, Ind. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until the hour of service at the Vineyard Community Church.
