Judie Lee Garthwaite, 64, of St. James City died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012. She was born Aug. 30, 1948, in Frankfort, Mich. She moved to St. James City in 1989 coming from Beaver Island, Mich. She worked as a hospitality specialist at the Tarpon Lodge Restaurant in Pineland for many years. She enjoyed everything to do with food and was a gourmet cook at home. She enjoyed traveling, camping, nature, riding her motorcycle, flying with her husband. She was a super co-pilot.
Shie is survived by her loving family, including her husband of 35 years, Richard "Dick" Garthwaite; daughters, Michelle Pracher (Jim Hollister), Tracy (Bruce) VandeWeg; grandchildren, Gage, Jacob, Riley, Traie, Erin; great-grandson, Felix; mother, Joyce Akerman; sisters, Jackie Kish, Joyce Lyn (Tim) Conatser; brother, John Akerman (Maryann Krause); and stepdaughters, Kathy (Tom) Hoogterp and Susan (Rick) Bunker.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Akerman, and granddaughter, Jonel Hoogterp.
