To the editor:
Jim Roach, age 60, is a combat decorated veteran and successful businessman. He is currently running for U.S. Congress.
We have an opportunity to elect a local guy, who has given his time and energy to our community. Jim's wife, Theresa, is a retired Lee County schoolteacher. Both are parents and grandparents. Jim is active with his local chamber and non-profits.
Jim received a degree in Engineering from the GI Bill, he went on to work for General Motors and was so good at his job, the company lent him out to do "troubleshooting" contract work with the Pentagon, and British Navy.
n In that capacity (with GM and his own company), Jim worked to bring dysfunctional groups together and get them to work efficiently and effectively. During that time, he had insight as to ways to maintain our military strength, yet cut wasteful spending and excess.
nJim is a hard worker who has an ability to see ways to cut costs and reduce waste, while improving efficiency.
nHe is a strong guy, with good sense and a backbone. People respect him.
nHe always researches the issues. Jim will never base a decision on opinion, but will ensure any votes he makes will be for the good of our area.
nJim is honest and he is someone we can trust.
nJim has always worked with everyone. He can bring our area together and do what's right for our community.
nHe cares and wants to work to improve our economy and make sure this is a safe place for our families and businesses.
nAnd he is the kind of guy who will meet with you one on one and listen to your concerns. In fact, he's also willing to debate his opponent in any forum and has offered to do so, so the public knows where he stands.
I believe experience, honesty, service to the country, knowledge of the issues and good sense count.
If you don't want to take my word for it, give him a call at 239-699-1967.
Or you can e-mail him at www.electroach.com
He is the kind of person can help bring back our faith and trust.
