* Car show at The Monkey Bar

A special Halloween Car Show is set for Sunday, Oct. 28, at the Monkey Bar & Steakhouse.

The event will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. and judging will commence at 1 p.m. The entry fee is $15 and the show is open to all makes and models. Trophies, door prizes, prizes for the ladies, and dash plaques to the first 40 vehicles registered. Vehicle participants also will receive a 20 percent food discount.

Music by DJ Ralphy "D."

A 50/50 raffle will benefit the Relay for Life.

Rain date is Sunday, Nov. 4.

Florida Boxer Rescue Dog Wash Saturday at Jill's Joint

A dogwash fundraiser to benefit Florida Boxer Rescue will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 14, at Jill's Joint, 889 NE 27th Lane #1

$5 bath, nail trim & ear cleaning; costume contest, raffle items, great food.

* Gulf Coast Village to present Dogtoberfest event

Cape Coral-Cape Coral's only continuing care retirement community has a "pawsitively" exciting event planned for October. Thursday, Oct. 11, from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. the public is invited to attend Dogtoberfest a Yappy Hour. The public is encouraged to bring their leashed pet and enjoy a great and fun party. Attendees will have some tasty treats, learn about breeds and their history, see available for adoption from the Animal Refuge Center and much more. There will be training demonstrations, specialty vendors, educational tables, entertainment and a dog walk through the walking paths of Gulf Coast Village. * Bowling Tournament Oct. 13 at All Star Lanes

A bowling tournament, called the "Pink Bra Double D Tornament" to benefit Breast Cancer Research will be held at All Star Lanes in North Fort Myers on Saturday, Oct. 13, at 6:30 p.m.

Registration will be at 6:15 p.m.

All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Campaign.

The cost to enter is $20, sponsored by the Del Tura Walkers in memory of Denise Dwyer. All Star Lanes is located at 2818 North Tamiami Trail. For information, call 995-2138.

* Lake Kennedy Senior Center

The harvest season will soon be here and the Lake Kennedt Senior Center gearing up for another sensational fall season!

The Lake Kennedy Center welcomes Tony Blake to the main state on Oct. 19 for an evening of great music, food and fabulous entertainment. Be ready to move and groove all evening long to the best songs from yesterday and today. Dinner will feature pork, broccoli au gratin, German potato salad, fruit, dessert and beverage. The cost is $18 Member and $23 Non-Member and includes show, dinner, beverage, and dessert. Menu includes Weiner Schnitzel, broccoli au gratin, German potato salad, melon wedge, roll and butter. - Energy Fusion Yoga with instructor Sheryl - Mondays and Thursdays 1:30 p.m. Cost $5 per person members and $9 per person/non-member per-person.

- Yin Yoga with instructor Sheryl, 1:30 p.m. Cost $5 per person members and $9 per person/non-member per-persons

* Caloosa Nature Center and Planetarium

The next Batman movie at the Caloosa Nature Center and Plnetarium will be Batman Returns at 8 p.m. Oct. 6. Movies are 2 hours 6 minutes long and rated PG-13. Popcorn, candy, sodas and water will be available for sale. Admission: $10 non-members, $8 members, children 5 and under free

Six Lakes Country Club will hold an Arts and Crafts Fair on Saturday, Nov. 10, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at 9151 Littleton Road

* Habitat for Humanity looking for volunteers

Habitat for Humanity of Lee and Hendry Counties is in need of volunteers. They have construction, office, Thrift Store, special events and bulk mailing volunteer opportunities. Visit www.habitat4humantiy.org.

Restore in North Fort Myers and Bonita Springs is looking for volunteers who are able to assist with phones or help load and unload trucks. Shifts are Tuesday through Saturday from 9 am to noon or noon to 4 pm.

Office positions are available Tuesday through Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm. They are looking for volunteers that can volunteer on a regular basis and help with office functions, such as answering the phone, greeting clients, filing, etc. Computer experience is preferred.
