David Rutherford and Corey Trivino scored two goals apiece as the Florida Everblades doubled up the Orlando Solar Bears 6-3 Friday night at Germain in a preseason exhibition game.
The Everblades struck first on a late developing 2-on-1 rush into the zone. Rutherford led the rush on the right wing side, eyed the trailer in the slot, and wristed a shot over the shoulder of Orlando goaltender Drew Palmisano.
Orlando tied the game at 12:31 of the opening frame. Thomas Beauregard squeezed the puck past the post and the skate of Everblades goaltender Pat Nagle.
Nearly 2 1/2 minutes later, Trivino received the puck to the right of the goal and lifted a backhand shot high into the net to give the Blades the lead back 2-1.
It was a lead the Blades would not surrender the rest of the way. Aaron Bogosian scored just 23 seconds later to lift the Blades to a two-goal advantage at the end of the first period.
The Everblades sealed it on Rutherford's rebound goal. Brandon MacLean fired a shot off the pads of the goaltender who made the initial stop, but Rutherford was there to send into the net.
Nagle stopped 29 of 32 shots.
The teams conclude the preseason at 7 p.m. Saturday at Germain Arena.
Website: The Blades have unveiled a newly designed website (www.floridaeverblades.com), and new website host. Boost Creative, a Cape Coral company will now serve as the new site's designer and host.
"We are excited about the launch of our new website," said team VP of sales & marketing Chris Palin. "Our goal was to create a website that was more user friendly, allowing fans to navigate around the site easier. This will be a site that our fans will enjoy visiting, and makes it easier for them to purchase tickets, as well as obtain all other team information."
Boost Creative has handled the design of the team's marketing materials for the past three seasons, including pocket schedules, game programs, ticket brochures, Web content, and much more.
"As a season ticket holder and diehard fan, it was truly a privilege to work on this project," said Boost Creative owner & cCreative director Matt Connar. "My team approached this website redesign from a fan perspective. We embellished the most popular areas from the old site and improved the overall usability. Easy access to tickets, news, upcoming games, and featured content was our main priority. Each element has a strategic spot within the home page interface."
