Helene Paula Feldman, 86, a Cape Coral resident for the last year, formerly of Asheville, N.C., died Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, in Cape Coral. She was born May 31, 1926, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to William and Harriett Doherty.
She was of the Roman Catholic faith. She enjoyed spending her time volunteering and helping the mentally ill. She will be missed. She will be remembered for her love of animals, her support of the Democratic Party and her open and giving nature. She will be remembered as a gentle and compassionate soul with a ready smile and words of kindness for all.
She is survived by her devoted son, Retired Army Reserve Col. Nick (Myriam) Hubbell of Cape Coral; two step-sons, Dr. David (Alison) Feldman of West Palm beach, Fla., and Robert (Dana) Feldman of California; four grandchildren, Sasha, McKenzie, Samuel and Maxwell; as well as her niece, Susanne Doherty of Massachusetts.
Mrs. Feldman was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Feldman; as well as her brother, Jerry Doherty; and her sister, Ann Louise Stevens.
Memorial services will be held at a later date at Shepherd Memorial Park, Hendersonville, NC.
