Herbert Paul Blauel, 91, of Cape Coral died Sept. 23, 2012, at his residence. He was born June 17, 1921, on Staten Island, N.Y., a child of Philippert and Josephine (Schlaich) Blauel.
A resident of Cape Coral for the past 34 years, he previously lived on Staten Island where he was employed as the chief inspector for the Staten Island Ferry, retiring in 1976 after 20 years of service. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Cape Coral.
The husband of the late Ethel Louise (Mark) Blauel, he is survived by his daughters, Louise Pecka of Cape Coral and Ann West (Craig Webb) of Hillsboro, N.H.; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, Oct. 5, at 10 a.m., for the souls of Herbert and Ethel Blauel in St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Del Prado Boulevard, Cape Coral.
