Dr. Rev. Samuel F. Rowen Sr., 78, a Cape Coral resident for almost nine years, formerly of Philadelphia, went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, in Fort Myers. He was born Dec. 19, 1933, in Philadelphia to Edward and Agnes Rowen, now deceased.

An ordained EPC minister, he served at Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Cape Coral and most recently attended New Hope Presbyterian Church in Fort Myers. He spent most of his life in missions serving primarily in Michigan, China and Argentina. He was also a professor of missions at Reformed Theological Seminary. He will fondly be remembered for never letting the truth stand in the way of a good story!

He is survived by his wife, Ruth J. Rowen; three loving children, Lisa (Chris) Seay of Houston, Texas, Pam (Robert) RowenHerzog of Penngrove, Calif., and Sam (Soon Hee) Rowen Jr. of North Palm Beach, Fla.; a brother, David Rowen of Cape Coral; as well as eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at New Hope Presbyterian Church, 3825 McGregor Blvd., Fort Myers Oct. 27, at 10 a.m., followed by a light reception.
