Anthony Pettinichi, 90, of Cape Coral died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at Cape Coral Hospital. He was born in Hudson, N.Y., in 1922 to Benamino and Elia Pettinichi.
He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the USS Bunker Hill. He married Shirley Delavalle in 1946 in Hudson, N.Y. He retired from International Harvester and moved to Cape Coral in 1984. He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, he was a life member of the B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge, V.F.W. and a member of C.H. Evans Hook and Ladder Co. in Hudson, N.Y.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Shirley; son, Scott (Jeanne) Pettinichi of Oakton, Va.; daughter, Cheryl (Thomas) Kappel of Hudson, N.Y.; one brother, Joseph Pettinichi of Saugerties, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Sam, Gabriella and Michael Pettinichi and Darren and Dayna Pollack; and four great-grandchildren, Mikel, Jordan, Darren Jr. and Craig.
He was preceded in death by his son, Craig Anthony Pettinichi; two brothers; and one sister.
A memorial service will be held in Hudson, N.Y., at a later time.
