Joan M. Fox, 76, of Cape Coral passed away peacefully at home Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012. The family is greatly saddened to say goodbye to our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
She was born in Boston Oct. 23, 1935, the beautiful daughter of Francis J. and Mary A. (Slattery) Mawn.
Before a well-deserved retirement to Cape Coral, she worked diligently and tirelessly first as a mother and also as a healthcare professional for those with special needs and developmental disabilities. Her love for her family and her compassion for others will be among the most prominent reminders of a life very well lived. She will be always missed but will forever be remembered and fondly.
She is survived by her husband, Gerald K. "Jerry" Fox; her five children, Diane, Debbie, Judy, David and Brian; her sister, Eileen Mawn of Weymouth, Mass.; her brother, John Mawn of Wrentham, Mass.; numerous grandchildren; a number of extended family members; and many other people who were fortunate enough to call her a friend.
Funeral services are private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joan's remembrance can be made to Hope Hospice, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908, (239) 482-4673.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Anderson-Patterson Cremation and Funeral Services, Fort Myers.
Those who wish to extend condolences to the family at this difficult time are encouraged to visit Joan's memorial webpage at www.andersonpatterson.com and sign the guestbook.
