To the editor:
There should be a preparatory class for a person who believes he is qualified to run for an office where public safety is involved.
This week, we had the perfect example of self-serving, disrespectful, and dopey behavior by an unqualified candidate for the position of Lee County Sheriff. The candidate decided that it would be appropriate to send pages of emails to the Sheriff's staff, expecting them to read the materials during the working day, instead of concentrating on their important and sometimes dangerous job. This outrageous conduct is not only irresponsible, it's disrespectful to the taxpayers who are paying for the working day, and it's the kind of disruption that could serve to create a public safety danger.
Sheriff Scott was absolutely right to block the transmissions and he once again deserves our applause.
Mr. Bushong desperately needs some serious procedural lessons...and we need Mike Scott to continue as our sheriff!
