Denny's reopens in Cape

Back by popular demand, Denny's is reopened its doors in Cape Coral Thursday, Aug. 9. The former Sunny Mugg's, located at 1306 Del Prado Blvd. S., had been closed for two weeks to allow for remodeling and conversion to Denny's.

A grand opening celebration is planned for later this summer.

Chef Night Aug. 23

The 9th Annual Rumrunners Celebrity Chef Night is set for Thursday, Aug. 23 from 6-9 p.m. at Rumrunners in Cape Harbour. The event raises funding for Barbara's Friends-The Children's Hospital Cancer Fund.

BJ's Wholesale Club in Cape Coral presents the "Health, Wellness and Safety Expo," a free BJ's Wholesale Club event that offers community residents information on child safety and family health. Colt Ford to perform

at Dixie Roadhouse

Cat Country 107.1 has announced that Colt Ford, an artist who is best-known for performing a mixture of country music and hip-hop, will be headlining a concert at the Dixie Roadhouse night club in Cape Coral Sept. 5.

Ford is beginning his support of his fourth full-length album, "Declaration of Independence," which was just released to the public Aug. 7. The two singles from the new record include the leading track "Answer to No One" and "Back," which is a joint effort with fellow country artist Jake Owen.

Tickets to the show are $15 for advance purchase, and $20 at the door. Doors open at 7 p.m. Dixie Roadhouse is a 21 and up club, but for Ford, 18 and up will be permitted with an additional surcharge of $5 at the door.

during grand opening

Educational seminar

on fat reduction planned

Planning under way for Captiva Holiday Village

The two-week-long Captiva Holiday Village launches its 2012 spectacular the Friday after Thanksgiving with fireworks, tree lightings, holiday readings and musical performances.

Now in its third year, Captiva Holiday Village is a cooperative event sponsored by hoteliers, merchants, attraction owners and restaurateurs of Captiva Island.

Fifth Third Bank donates 1,000 school supply-filled backpacks to children in need

Fifth Third Bank (South Florida) collected enough school supplies to fill 1,000 backpacks during its fourth annual "Back to School" Supply Drive. Donations were collected this summer at 64 financial centers in Collier, Lee, Charlotte, Manatee, Broward and Palm Beach counties and will be distributed to students through the Education Foundation in each area.

The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools will receive a portion of the school supplies to provide to local children. The organization reported that more than 70 percent of the approximately 80,000 students in the school district receive free or reduced lunch.

Stenger named secretary of NAHU

Jim Stenger was elected secretary on the National Association of Health Underwriters' Board of Trustees at NAHU's 82nd Annual Convention in Las Vegas.

Stenger entered the health insurance business in 1973 and worked for two large insurance companies and two international employee benefit brokerage firms in New York. Southwest Florida International Airport receives A- bond rating

Standard & Poor's Ratings Services has affirmed the outstanding A- rating on Southwest Florida International Airport's $309 million airport revenue bonds. The Rating Outlook on all bonds is Stable. The bonds are payable from the net revenues generated by the operations of Southwest Florida International Airport.

The A- rating is based on Southwest Florida International Airport having a very strong liquidity position with unrestricted cash and investments; excellent airline diversity; continuation of good financial management and metrics; improved signatory cost per enplanement; a manageable capital improvement program with no additional debt plans; a hybrid agreement that the Lee County Port Authority entered in with its airline partners in 2008; and limited competition in the region.

Blevins selected for Judicial Grievance Committee

Bill Blevins, Lee County Market Executive for Encore National Bank, has been selected to serve on the 20th Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee with The Florida Bar through June 30, 2015. IBERIABANK announces completion of Florida Gulf Bancorp Inc. and Florida Gulf Bank acquisitions

IBERIABANK Corporation, the holding company for the 125-year-old IBERIABANK, has announced completion of the acquisition of Fort Myers, Florida-based Florida Gulf Bancorp Inc. and its subsidiary bank, Florida Gulf Bank. The acquisition, including the merger of the subsidiary bank with and into IBKC's subsidiary, IBERIABANK, was completed after the close of business on July 31.

At June 30, Florida Gulf had total consolidated assets of $357 million, $240 million in net loans, and $287 million in total deposits. IBERIABANK anticipates the conversion of Florida Gulf Bank's branch and operating systems to occur by the end of August 2012.

William P. Valenti, president and chief executive officer of Florida Gulf, was named market president for Lee County for IBERIABANK.

Shareholders of Florida Gulf will receive 0.466 share of IBKC common stock per share of Florida Gulf common stock.
