To the editor:
The Republican Primary Election on Aug. 14 features several well-intentioned candidates but there is only one who has the background and experience to get the job done for us in Washington Chauncey Porter Goss. From his early days in Southwest Florida to the present time, Chauncey Goss has demonstrated a very strong work ethic directed in support of We, the People. For example, his spirit of service and volunteerism was seen in his role as Executive Director, Gasparilla Island Conservation and Improvement Assoc., and in his work with Lee County Historic Preservation and Ding Darling Wildlife Society, to name just a few.
Chauncey Goss has exceptional experience in fiscal policy analysis and federal budgeting acquired as Deputy Staff Director for Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, and enhanced as it applies to the crucial small business community through his own fiscal consulting business. Chauncey Goss understands well the legislative process, and he has experience in building a consensus through patience, education and persuasion. His discipline and understanding required to rise above the D.C. toxic rhetoric is commendable. He shows tremendous sincerity and clarity of focus as he has set forth specific ideas and solutions for many challenges now facing our nation.
Having served for 37 years in the U. S. Navy, retiring as a two-star rear admiral, and now working in my own small business company, I salute enthusiastically the clear positions taken by Chauncey Goss in support of a strong military and dedication to the active military personnel and veterans who have served and protected the values and principles so dear to our country. Chauncey Goss stands for individual initiative and achievement, and will apply these measures in enhancing the retirement opportunities, tourism growth and general diversified business environment for the benefit of all of us in Southwest Florida.
Chauncey Goss, the individual, stands for our core American values. He and his wonderful family represent high standards of ethics, honesty, morality, and yes, even that sincere common courtesy we hope to see in our leaders and all others for whom we have respect. With the invaluable influence on his life and development from individuals such as Congressman Paul Ryan, Governor Jeb Bush, and yes, his Dad, former Congressman and CIA Director Porter Goss, there can be no question but that this strong, warm and caring individual, Mr. Chauncey Goss, is the right man to represent the interests of all of us in Southwest Florida at this crucial time.
