Lane shifts expected on Colonial/Lee boulevards in Fort Myers

July 2, 2012
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

On Tuesday, July 3, during the nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., westbound travel lanes on Colonial/Lee Boulevard through the intersection with S.R. 82 will shift north to the newly constructed roadway. The intersection of SR 82 and Colonial/Lee Boulevard will be reduced to one through lane in each direction while crews relocate traffic signals, restripe lanes and shift traffic.

Motorists should expect travel delays and periodic road closures (5 to 7 minute intervals). Law enforcement officers will be on site at the intersection to direct motorists and to assist during the lane shifts. Variable message signs will alert motorists to changing traffic patterns. Motorists are advised to USE CAUTION driving in this area. If possible, motorists are asked to seek alternate routes Tuesday night until crews complete the lane shift work.

This traffic shift is necessary for crews to construct the median of Colonial/Lee Boulevard as part of the City of Fort Myers' S.R. 82 Widening Project. This project is expected to be completed this summer.
