To the editor:
It was certainly disconcerting to witness the hour or so of blathering (per Webster - foolish or nonsensical talking) concerning the "Bridge Toll" issue at the Cape Coral City Council meeting on June 4. I'd judge that the situation has been set back a year or more from the point we had reached by the third quarter of 2011. At least we understood the differences we had with Lee DOT and had a fairly good idea about how we wanted to propose the wording of a new inter-local agreement. It seems that all, or most of that is lost, and no one on June 4 demonstrated a complete understanding (although Councilmember Leetz came the closest to it) of the definition in the current agreement of what "surplus" tolls really means.
