Jean Mary Wilkerson, 78, of Fort Myers passed away Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Hope Hospice, Fort Myers. She was born March 14, 1934, in La Salle, Ill., a child of Peter and Katherine (Erbes) Stych.
A resident of Lee County for over 42 years, she lived in Cape Coral before moving to Fort Myers 40 years ago. In 1970, she founded Wilkerson Accounting Firm in Cape Coral, now known as Burkett & Associates. She continued to work part-time until March of this year when her illness made her stop.
An avid golfer, she was a member of the Eastwood Ladies Golf Association; she traveled all over the Unites States and occasionally outside of the country to play in golf tournaments. She had never golfed until she moved to Florida at age 36; once she started, she played four days a week for the next 35 years. She also loved her cats, Alan Jackson's music, Nora Robert's novels and bingo.
