Lower water rates were needed more than land purchase

June 2, 2012
Cape Coral Daily Breeze

To the editor:

After receiving my latest water bill and looking at it and seeing that I received only 500 gallons of water at a cost of $53 and change for a month, I suddenly realized that that was a bit expensive and began to realize why Mayor Sullivan and Councilmember Chulakes-Leetz were so upset at our council's latest land purchase being made with money supposedly meant to do with the reduction of our water rates rather than land purchases.

Something does seem a bit odd and deserves a bit of looking into. Is there such an entity within our city council called "The Slick Six," - which replaced the "Fab Five" - to do the citizenry dirt? I'm beginning to wonder.

Sullivan and Chulakes-Leetz have struck me as a pair of decent gentlemen. It would seem they have a legitimate reason to be upset with this condition of an unresolved water problem.

Whatever - with "something smelling in Denmark," let's get rid of the smell and do what's right for our city. God knows, that's the least we all deserve.
