Cape resident elected president of MOAA council

Cape Coral resident Jim Conner, Lt. Col. USAF (retired), has been elected as President of the Florida Council of Chapters of the Military Officers Association of America.

Vice Admiral Norb Ryan USN (retired), president of MOAA, arrived from the national office in Washington, D.C., to speak and perform the swearing in ceremony during the annual Convention of Chapters in Florida.

The Florida Council of Chapters has approximately 8,000 members in 41 chapters throughout the state. It is the state arm of the national MOAA , which has 441 chapters and over 370,000 members. MOAA's motto is "One Powerful Voice" because its members work together to speak for legislation that helps all military members.

The Southwest Florida area has two local chapters; Calusa Chapter, which meets in Cape Coral, and Lee Coast Chapter which meets in Fort Myers.
