Owned by Stephen Zelko and Anthony Cassone, this new organically grown produce retailer carries a wide variety of locally grown products, including kale, chard, sprouts, wheat-grass, micro-greens and more. Other local products include honey, hummus, goat cheese, milk and eggs!

Jason's deli celebrates 10 years in Southwest Florida

Jason's deli is celebrating its 10th anniversary in Southwest Florida by giving back to the community. The "Power of Ten" focuses community attention on 10 area charities by donating 10 percent of the Fort Myers restaurant's sales to a specific charity on Mondays between June 4 and Aug. 20. Customers are invited to get involved in the giving by making a $1 donation to the charity of the week. When they do so, they are entered in a drawing to win a catered event for 10 people.

The charities that will benefit from the Power of Ten include: ICAN (Island Coast AIDS Network), Heights Foundation, Hope Clubhouse, Quality Life Center, 21st Century C.A.R.E, Community Cooperative Ministries, Pace Center for Girls (Lee County), Abuse Counseling and Treatment, Eden Autism and Women In Business Educational Scholarship.

The Power of 10 promotion will conclude on Sept. 12, with an appreciation breakfast at the deli for all of the charities, where their checks will be presented.

Lee County Port Authority receives top honor

The Lee County Port Authority, operator of Southwest Florida International Airport and Page Field, was recently recognized by the Southwest Florida Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association for several projects at the 2012 Local Image Awards presented in Fort Myers. LCPA received the Grand All Image Award, the top award of the competition, as well as an Image Award for its Base Ops Dedication Ceremony in the Public Relations Programs Special Events category.

The Southwest Florida International Airport "Fly Me to the Moon" Art Exhibit Brochure was recognized with a Grand Image Award, the top award in its division, and an Image Award in the Printed Tools of Public Relations - Brochure category. In addition, LCPA received an Image Award and a Judges' Award for e-Link, the Lee County Port Authority's Business Newsletter in the Audio/Visual/Online Tools of Public Relations Online Newsletter category.

The Southwest Florida Chapter of FPRA conducts the Local Image Awards annually to recognize outstanding public relations programs and to encourage and promote the development of public relations professionalism in Southwest Florida. IMA CFO Breakfast Roundtables scheduled

The Southwest Florida Chapter of IMA announces the inaugural sessions of the IMA CFO Breakfast Roundtables.

The program will be presented on two dates and locations to accommodate schedules: today, May 23, at The Inn on Fifth in Naples, and on Thursday, May 24, at the Club at Renaissance in Fort Myers. The format for the program will be a breakfast and presentation followed by a roundtable discussion.

Dean Piccirillo, CFP, CRPS, AIFA, will inform participants about the most pertinent aspects of ERISA Qualified Retirement Plan Fee Disclosure Regulations 408(b)(2) and 404(a)(5), specifically those going into effect this summer. Piccirillo is a principal and senior financial advisor who also heads the Retirement Plan Unit at HBKS Wealth Advisors, a regional firm affiliated with top 100 accounting firm Hill, Barth & King.

Designed for chief financial officers and senior financial executives in Southwest Florida, the objective of the CFO Roundtable is to provide a forum for discussion of important issues of a financial and business nature, to present timely, relevant information related to financial management and to provide a networking opportunity for CFOs and their peers.

MBA Airport Transportation makes donation to food bank

Wednesday, April 18, was the day MBA Airport Transportation gave back to the community by donating $5 of each fare to the Harry Chapin Food Bank through its "Drive Hunger out of Southwest Florida" promotion. MBA presented the food bank with a check for $1,730, which translates into $10,380 in food.

MBA Airport Transportation, LLC, is the taxi concessionaire for the Southwest Florida International Airport. MBA Airport Transportation is a DBE joint venture whose partner members are John J. Poelker Jr., Mary Poelker and Judith Griffin. Poelker was a personal friend of Harry Chapin and is also a co-founder of the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida, serving as the president of the board of directors from 1989 through 1995.

The Harry Chapin Food Bank solicits, collects and stores quality food for distribution to families in need through a network of nonprofit agencies in Lee, Collier, Hendry, Charlotte and Glades counties, who provide food to more than 30,000 people monthly. Over 1 million pounds of food are distributed monthly. For every dollar donated, about $6 in food value goes back to the community. In the past calendar year, The Harry Chapin Food Bank distributed more than 13.7 million pounds of food and other grocery items valued at more than $22.5 million. This is roughly the equivalent of 11 million meals to people in need.

Local chef named a top pastry chef in America

Dessert Professional magazine, the nation's leading publication of the pastry, ice cream and chocolate industries, has named Nathaniel Reid of Norman Love Confections as one of the Top 10 Pastry Chefs in America.

Reid will accept this recognition on June 4 at The Institute of Culinary Education in New York.

Reid, who joined Norman Love Confections in 2010, oversees the pastry and bakery shop, including production of specialty cakes, desserts and bakery items.

Prior to joining NLC, Reid was the executive pastry chef of St. Regis Hotel, a Mobil Five Star, AAA Five Diamond resort in Dana Point, Calif. Previously, he held pastry positions with Michelin Three Star Jol Robuchon Restaurant at The Mansion and The Ritz-Carlton Hotel, both in Las Vegas.

Schwinn earns

master of laws degree

in employment law

Graduating with honors, Pavese Law Firm partner Christina Harris Schwinn received her second Master of Laws degree from Atlanta's John Marshall Law School on May 19. The LL.M. degree is an advanced law degree with a focus on a particular practice area. Schwinn's second LL.M. is in employment law and her first LL.M. is in real property land development and finance law, which she received from the University of Miami's Graduate School of Law in 1991.
