March programs set at Northwest Regional Library

Next month's roster of activities at Northwest Regional Library offers topics for all ages. The following activities are free to the public:

ADULTS

English Caf

Thursdays, March 1, 8, 15, 22, 29

Practice your English with English Cafe, a free, conversation session for adult ESOL and ESL students. Each 90-minute session provides adult learners an opportunity to practice speaking English with native speakers. Participants may start at any time. Advanced registration is not necessary.

Nibbles and Novels

10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 14

Chat about books. Discover new favorites. Enjoy a snack. Meet other book lovers. Come join us.

Book Discussion: George W. Bush's "Decision Points"

2 p.m., Wednesday, March 21

Former president George W. Bush examines some of the most critical and impactful decisions of his life and presidency. Registration is required.

FAMILY

Baby-Parent Rhyme Time

10:30 a.m., Wednesdays, March 21, 28

Be prepared to tickle, jump and fly with your baby! These rhymes and songs are for infants, up to 24 months, accompanied by an adult. This 20-minute program is filled with songs designed to introduce rhyming and movement to infants. Registration is required.

Family Storytime

10:30 a.m., Thursdays, March 22, 29

This program is for the whole family and lasts about 30 minutes. Registration is required.

CHILDREN

Kids Read Down Fines

10 a.m. 12 p.m., Saturdays, March 3, 17

5 6 p.m., Tuesday, March 13

Children and teens can earn a $2 coupon for every 15 minutes of reading during the allotted time in the designated area of the library. For ages 18 and under. Coupons may be applied to cards issued to patrons age 18 and under only.

Lego Story Lab

6 p.m., Tuesday, March 6

Visit the library for Lego fun! Lego Story Lab, a program for grades K-5, incorporates hands-on activities and literacy. With Legos, you can build anything you can imagine and tell any story you can dream up. Come to the Lego Story Lab to hear, see, make, and create different stories, all while building with Legos! We provide the Legos, just bring your creativity. The Lego Story Lab is free and open to the public.

Why Legos in the library? Hands-on play improves concentration, scientific logic and reasoning, problem solving and creativity - skills that go hand in hand with reading, literacy and learning. Registration is required.

Pazazz

6 p.m., Tuesday, March 13

Pazazz is a place for tweens 10-12 years old, who want to learn about design, art, fashion and style. Learn about careers on the creative side. Explore art and style from a world perspective as well as picking up some practical life-skill tips and having fun with a craft. Supplies provided by Friends of the Northwest Regional Library. Registration is required.

Minute to Win It

2 p.m., Wednesday, March 14

Based on the TV game show "A Minute to Win It," competing individuals will attempt a series of simple challenges. Gamers, judges and audience participants welcome. For ages 7 through 12. Registration is required.

Vintage Video Games - Super Mario Brothers

2 p.m., Thursday, March 15

Play vintage video games from the 90's! Featured game: Super Mario Brothers. For ages 5 to 12. Registration is required.

Come Play With Us!

Presented by Gulf Coast Symphony

11 a.m., Saturday, March 31

Listen and interact with orchestra members and their instruments! The GULF Coast Symphony will feature duos and small groups of performers. Children will receive hands-on experience with the instruments after the program. A fantastic family program! Registration is required.

TEENS

Yu-Gi-Oh Tournament

12 p.m., Saturday, March 10

Gather with like minded Yu-Gi-Oh card players on in the Meeting Room. This is a tournament day with prizes and snacks provided by the Friends of the Northwest Regional Library.
