Deb and the Dynamics

Dinner Dance

Cape Coral Parks & Recreation. will hold a dinner dance on Saturday, March 3, from 6-10 p.m.

The event will feature a full-course dinner, dance and show featuring local favorite "Deb and the Dynamics" as they bring an evening of vintage Motown, Memphis Soul, Classic R&B, and jump Blues traditions to the Yacht Club Ballroom. Attendees will be treated to several stirring sets including many classic hits, medleys, and sing-alongs from artists like James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Sam & Dave, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, BB King, and many more. This event is open to the Public.

The cost is $25 per person. BYOB. Reservations required.

Free Cello Master Class

The Southwest Florida Symphony will offer a free Cello Master Class with Ralph Kirshbaum on Friday, March 2, 2-5 p.m. in Building J103, Rush Auditorium, Edison State College

Students and the public are invited to attend a free master class with noted teacher and performer Ralph Kirshbaum. Selected cello students will perform followed by instruction and comments from Mr. Kirshbaum.

Ralph Kirshbaum will be the guest soloist in the Dvorak Cello Concerto with the Southwest Florida Symphony on March 3 at 8 p.m. at Barbara B. Mann Performing Arts Hall. Those who attend the Master Class may purchase a concert ticket for only $5.

Shell Point Art Show and Sale

The annual Shell Point Art Show and Sale is scheduled to take place on March 9, 10, and 11 inside the Social Center and the Resident Activity Center on The Island at Shell Point.

The Resident Art Show Committee invites the public to view the artwork created by many of the talented artists who live in the retirement community at Shell Point. The show will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 9 and 10, and then from noon to 3p.m. on March 11.

This year's exhibit will feature: paintings, pottery, sculptures, stained glass, polished stonework, wood carvings, and unique jewelry, all created by Shell Point residents.

Also, new this year, stunning photography by Shell Point residents will be available to view and purchase.

Alliance Calls for 2D/3D artwork

The Alliance for the Arts is calling for entries for its 26th Annual All Florida Juried Exhibition, to be displayed June 1 through Aug. 4. Deadline for artist submissions is April 15. More information about the exhibition and the Artist Prospectus are available at the Alliance or at

Artists must reside in Florida to be eligible. Only original artwork will be accepted. Categories include sculpture, painting (including oil, acrylic, collage, watercolor & mixed media), photography, prints and drawings. Prizes will be awarded, including $1000 for Best in Show.

Winners will be announced during the opening reception on June 1. This year's juror, David Fithian, has been the Exhibition Coordinator at the Museum of Florida Art since 2001 and has judged many shows, won numerous awards, taught countless classes and workshops and exhibited his own work around the country for more than 40 years.

The Photographic Journal

of Clyde Butcher

Native son and world-renowned black-and-white fine arts photographer Clyde Butcher returns to the Southwest Florida Museum of History to celebrate the museum's 30th anniversary with a specially designed exhibition through May 26.

Along with his original black and white photographs taken with a large format view camera, The Photographic Journal of Clyde Butcher will detail the story of the photograph: the negative, technical details, darkroom information, images of him photographing the scene and the story of the pursuit of the photograph.

Free entertainment

"The Mangrove Gathering," the eco cafe, will feature the live music on the third Friday of every month from 7:30 p.m.. and 10 p.m.

The cafe is at 6490 South Pointe Blvd., Fort Myers, at the Eco Living Center at Rutenberg Park.

Admission is free. Bring a reusable mug for free refreshments and a dessert/snack to share with the community "potlatch."
