Beacon of H.O.P.E., the Pine Island United Way House, is teaming up with Pine Island United Methodist Church, Right at Home and Juniper Village to provide a free, adult health fair to Pine Island and surrounding communities Saturday, Oct. 15.
"We are providing the heath fair to ensure our citizens have access to a variety of free health screenings," said Carolyn Regan, parish nurse at St. John's Episcopal Church of Pine Island and a board member of Beacon of H.O.P.E. "We will be offering free wellness screenings for blood pressure, diabetes, fall prevention, foot health, hearing, memory, vision as well as information about Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, assisted living and in-home care options, nutrition, pharmaceuticals, managed care and Social Security. Flu shots will also be available and can be covered through Medicare, private insurance or private pay."
The community-wide health fair will take place at Pine Island United Methodist Church, located at 5701 Pine Island Road, just west of the intersection at Stringfellow Road in Pine Island.
The health fair will be available from 10 a.m.to 2 p.m. Healthy snacks and door prizes will be provided.
