Kacie Harris-Strine, a Cape Coral resident and 2008 graduate of Cypress Lake High School School for the Arts, recently began her third year with the Young Americans.
Last year, Harris-Strine went on two tours with the Young Americans, first for three months in Europe, primarily Germany and the surrounding area, and then for three months in the upper Midwest - Michigan, Ohio, Indiana.
She left this past August for California, the home base of the Young Americans, for a few weeks of rehearsals, and is currently in Europe again, primarily Germany, for another three months of performances and workshops with young performers.
The Young Americans were founded almost 50 years ago in Hollywood, Calif. The mission of the program is to provide student performers between the ages of 17 and 23 with education in music, dance, performance and teaching methods. The group uses its training to support music in schools through international outreach workshops in educational facilities around the world.
The Young Americans consist of 250 members from over 39 states and eight countries around the world.
Harris-Strine is the daughter of Chris and Vicky Strine, and Cindy Harris, all of Cape Coral.
