BROOKSVILLE (AP) - Authorities say a Tampa Bay area woman beat one kitten to death with a metal baseball bat and severely injured another.

The Hernando County Sheriff's Office reports that 24-year-old Wilana Joenel Frazier was arrested Friday and charged with two counts of animal cruelty and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Witnesses in a Brooksville community told deputies Frazier allowed her sons, ages 5 and 8, to participate in torturing the animals.

Several children were able to save the second kitten, which was taken by animal services for treatment.

When questioned by deputies, Frazier denied hurting the small cats.

She was being held on $14,000 bail.
