VALRICO (AP) - A suspect who was shot by Hillsborough deputies during an investigation into a bank robbery is in critical condition.

On Tuesday, Hillsborough Sheriff's deputies identified the suspect as 30-year-old Thomas Noettl of Valrico. Noettl is in critical condition at a Tampa hospital.

Sheriff David Gee says after the bank robbery at Grow Financial Credit Union on Monday, investigators tracked Noettl to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Monday night. The man told officials the money from the bank robbery was at his house in nearby Valrico.

After obtaining a search warrant, investigators were led inside by the suspect, who had been very cooperative. Gee says the man grabbed a knife in the kitchen and the detective fired and struck the suspect. No deputies were injured.

Investigators found some of the money from the bank robbery at the home. It was stained from a dye pack that exploded.
