WEST PALM BEACH (AP) - South Florida school officials say a kindergartner was hospitalized after being left a bus for about two hours.

The Palm Beach County School District reports that the 5-year-old student was found on the bus at the school district bus compound Monday afternoon. He should have been dropped off at Benoist Farms Elementary two hours earlier.

The boy was not injured, but he was taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution. He was later released to his parents.

A district spokesman says drivers are supposed to check their buses before they leave the compound. He acknowledged that this wasn't the first time a child has been left on a bus.

Officials didn't identify the bus driver or the child.
