PENSACOLA (AP) - A Florida baby was killed after the stroller she was being pushed in was struck by a pickup truck in Pensacola.
Police say Shakuriyah Jenkins riding in a double stroller with another young child when they were hit by a 1993 Nissan pickup truck driven by 78-year-old Billy Williams Thursday evening.
Fifteen-year-old Kye'dashia Moore, the baby's aunt, had been pushing the stroller, while the mother, 17-year-old Shiesha Knight, walked alongside them. Police said they were crossing a street and standing in a yellow safety area in the center of the roadway when Williams' vehicle merged into the striped area and hit them.
The baby was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital, where she died, a day before her first birthday.
Williams will be cited for driving in the prohibited area.
