SPRING HILL (AP) - Police say a Spring Hill man convinced his 84-year-old neighbor that his daughters were conspiring against him and then stole more than $120,000 in cash and assets from him.
Investigators arrested 56-year-old Thomas R. Dolloff Friday on charges of exploitation of the elderly in excess of $100,000, a first-degree felony.
Reports show Edward M. Edwards' daughter noticed suspicious activity on his bank accounts in January. Investigators found checks from Edwards had been deposited into Dolloff's bank account. Police say Dolloff also re-registered the man's pickup truck in his name and traded it.
The investigation showed Dolloff asked Edwards to make him beneficiary and trustee of his accounts. Police say Dolloff also convinced the man to make him surrogate of a will that left just a single dollar to Edwards' daughters.
